Fellowship Training

You’ve probably seen the phrase “100 percent fellowship-trained” throughout our website and in other practice materials. It obviously means something special to us, but what does it mean to you?

“To be considered ‘fellowship-trained,’ a physician must complete four years of medical school, five years of an orthopedic residency, and one year of in-depth specialty training under the guidance of a top orthopedic specialist.

From a patient’s perspective that means every single one of our surgeons has chosen to focus intensively on one specific part of the body, so they understand it inside-out. For example, a fellowship-trained knee expert gains as much knee knowledge and experience in just one year as a general orthopedist does in five or six years. That means our fellowship-trained doctors are “ultra-trained” to be the most knowledgeable, experienced and skilled in their particular area.
