A fellowship-trained, board-certified physician who’s also a lifelong athlete, Dr. McCarroll was a founding partner of Methodist Sports Medicine.
He earned his medical degree from Ohio State University, served an orthopedic residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. and completed specialized training in sports medicine from the University of Oklahoma.
After years spent as an all-state football player for Zanesville High School, competitor on the Ohio State baseball team, team physician, orthopedic consultant and avid golfer, Dr. McCarroll understands that nothing is more frustrating than sitting on the sidelines with an injury. He has devoted his career to getting players back in the game, whether “the game” is starting in a match-up between IU and one of its Big 10 foes, or comfortably sitting in the stands through your daughter’s soccer championships. Dr. McCarroll now limits his practice to walk-in clinic patients at Methodist Sports Medicine ’s North location.
As the father of four children and grandfather of four, Dr. McCarroll believes an important part of being a good doctor is the ability to see your patients as people – dads and moms, grandparents, sisters and brothers who all juggle demanding lifestyles and need to find time to pursue their passions, volunteer and “play” as a family at every opportunity.
