Originally from Carmel, IN, Michael Heitholt attended Indiana University and then earned his doctorate in chiropractic from Palmer College in Davenport, IA. Dr. Heitholt experienced many injuries growing up playing soccer, making him no stranger to MSM as Dr. McCarroll and Rettig fixed up many injuries for him along the way. A low back injury ultimately lead to the end of his soccer career while attempting to walk on at Indiana. This ultimately was what shaped his career choice.
Upon graduating from Palmer, Dr. Heitholt practiced in Chicago where he worked for a company that promotes an outcome-based setting, tracking treatment outcomes, as well as working with large employers to help lower musculoskeletal healthcare costs. His office was in a primary care medical setting where many of his patients were from direct referrals from the physicians in the practice. Dr. Heitholt then moved back to Indiana a year ago and has been running his own practice. The opportunity to join Methodist Sports Medicine at Grand Park is a unique opportunity to utilize a multidisciplinary approach that will create positive outcomes for patients. Dr. Heitholt is excited to bring a unique skill set and experience in to Grand Park. Dr. Heitholt’s passion for this profession comes from providing results-based care that delivers personalized, efficient, and lasting results for each patient so that they can return to the activities and lifestyle they enjoy most.
When outside the office, Dr. Heitholt can most often be found spending time with his wife, Kelly, and two little boys, Matthew and Luke. He also loves hiking, running, going to the mountains, and Indiana Hoosiers basketball.
