September 15, 2014 – Indianapolis – When the reigning AFC South champion Indianapolis Colts play their Monday Night Football home opener against the the Philadelphia Eagles , the Official Team Physicians of the Colts from Methodist Sports Medicine (MSM) will provide sports medicine care on the sidelines. Lead team physician Arthur C. Rettig, M.D. will be joined by knee specialist Tom Klootwyk, M.D. during the nationally televised game. MSM concussion management specialists, Henry Feuer, M.D. and Terry Horner, M.D. will also stand alongside the coaches and players on the home sidelines at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The 2014 NFL season marks the 31st consecutive year that MSM has provided sports medicine coverage for the Colts. Indy will look to bounce back from a hard fought opening weekend loss at Denver while facing the remainder of the season without defensive standout Robert Mathis. Mathis, who led the league in sacks during the 2013 regular season, sustained a season ending achilles injury during a personal workout session away from the Colts facility as he began to serve a four-game NFL suspension for violation of the league’s banned substance policy.
Monday’s game will be broadcast nationally by ESPN and can be seen in the Indianapolis area on WRTV-6. The radio broadcast can be heard in central Indiana over WLHK-FM 97.1 and WFNI-AM 1070 TheFan and 107.5 FM.
