June 4, 2014 – Indianapolis – A recent award from the Methodist Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation is assisting an Indianapolis entrepreneur in making an impact in the field of concussion research and prevention.

Michael Stokes, President and CEO of Waveform Communication is poised to continue groundbreaking work that could lead to enhanced detection of concussion. Stokes recently launched ELBOW, an automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine. “Years of diligence are paying off right now,” Stokes said. Stemming from more than 20 years of research, Stokes’ Waveform Model of Vowel Perception and Production stands to outperform current technologies on the ASR market by eight to 10 percent.
