“One of my heroes, the legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, once said, 'Sports do not build character, they reveal it.' As a practicing orthopedist and sports medicine specialist for the past 28 years, I consider myself fortunate to witness up close the strength of character and level of determination exhibited by professional athletes and normal human beings as they work to recover from injury. The human spirit is a magnificent thing to watch.” – Arthur C. Rettig, MD
