  • Biography

Dr. Lance Rettig, whose dad is also an orthopedic surgeon at Methodist Sports Medicine, knows firsthand how important upper extremities are to an athlete. When he isn’t treating athletes, he’s pushing his own physical limits by running, golfing, snow skiing and competing in triathlons.

Dr. Rettig followed in his father’s path to medical school by studying biology at Indiana University. He earned his MD at Indiana University School of Medicine, then interned in general surgery and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Indiana University Medical Center. When he decided to focus on becoming a hand surgeon, he accepted a fellowship at the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, the largest, most experienced hand center in the nation.

A native of Indianapolis, Dr. Rettig serves as team physician at Avon High School. He is married with three children.
