Dr. Ritter specializes in orthopedic sports medicine and trauma. He honed his skills as a team physician in a sports arena destined to create trauma — the American Hockey League. He continually applies lessons learned from treating serious athletes to his work with orthopedic patients who may never have set foot on a field or court.
Dr. Ritter received his bachelor’s degree from Luther College, where he was an all-star swimmer and captain. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1999. He completed both his orthopedic residency and orthopedic trauma fellowship at Brown University, and then accepted a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship with Drs. James Tasto and James Esch at the University of California in San Diego.
An avid football and hockey fan, Dr. Ritter also uses downtime to read, travel or hone his woodworking skills. He’s married to Hadley Ritter, MD, an Indiana Clinic and Clarian North surgeon who specializes in thyroid and breast cancer cases. They are the parents of two girls.
