Dr. Misamore specializes in sports medicine and disorders of the shoulder. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and he specializes in reconstructive and arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
Following undergraduate studies at Indiana University and the U.S. Naval Academy, Dr. Misamore received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1978. Following an internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Dr. Misamore completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Indiana University in 1983. He followed with a fellowship in shoulder disorders at the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Misamore has been in medical practice in Indianapolis since 1984. He has served as orthopedic consultant for the Indianapolis Colts since 1999 and currently holds the same role with Hamilton Southeastern High School. He also served as the team physician for Butler University for more than two decades, which included duty as tournament physician for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four held in Indianapolis in 1991, 1997, 2000 and 2006, and the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four in 2005.
His long list of accomplishments include the appointment as Medical Director for the 1987 Pan-Am Games in Indianapolis, and most recently he served as president of the Indiana Orthopedic Society from 2010 to 2011.
A native of Indianapolis, Dr. Misamore is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Indiana Orthopedic Society, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
Like many of his colleagues, Dr. Misamore has helped care for some of the area’s most determined athletes. He was team physician for Butler University for more than two decades, and currently serves as a team physician and orthopedic consultant for the Indianapolis Colts and Hamilton Southeastern High School. He understands that whether you are treating patients or playing sports, being part of a great team makes all the difference in the world.
