“They say one of the keys to happiness is being able to turn your hobby into your vocation. Well, I guess that makes me a pretty happy person. As an orthopedic surgeon I’ve been able to combine my lifelong love of sports with my love of medicine. It doesn’t get much better than that.” – John R. McCarroll, MD

Personal

An important part of being a good doctor is the ability to relate to your patients as people — mothers, fathers, grandfathers, sisters — all have different lives and different lifestyles, hobbies and responsibilities. As a husband, father of four, grandfather of two and a coach, Dr. McCarroll understands the challenges individuals face every day. An avid golfer, he also understands that we all need to find ways to unwind as well. His preferred vacation involves 18 holes, a small white ball and a bright yellow sun. When not active in some sporting activity, you’ll most likely find him reading about one in Sports Illustrated, his favorite magazine.
