“To most patients a discussion of bipolar radio-frequency treatment of tendonitis would sound either complicated, like the perfect prescription for a nap, or both, which I understand completely. The main thing that I want them to understand is that my biggest concern is creating a positive outcome using the latest advances in orthopedic medicine, combined with a personal touch.” – Mark Ritter, MD

Bio

Dr. Ritter specializes in orthopedic trauma and sports medicine.

It seems totally appropriate that the favorite magazine of an orthopedic surgeon would be Popular Mechanics, which so happens to be the case with Dr. Mark Ritter. As a specialist in Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine, Dr. Ritter honed his skills as a team physician in the American Hockey League, a sport which sees its fair share of trauma. The lessons learned from working with serious athletes are applied to his work with patients from all walks of life on a daily basis. Dr. Ritter received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Luther College in 1995 where he was an all-star swimmer. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1999. He completed his Orthopedic Residency and Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Brown University.

Dr. Ritter went on to complete his Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship with Drs. James Tasto and James Esch at the University of California in San Diego.

Dr. Ritter’s interests are cartilage restoration, arthroscopic-assisted trauma, shoulder arthroscopy and complex knee reconstruction. Dr. Ritter has lectured extensively on the “Sideline Management of Sports Injuries,” and teaches arthroscopic techniques to orthopedic residents and sports medicine fellows.
