Bio

Dr. Stephen Ritter is the first spine specialist to practice at Methodist Sports Medicine / The Orthopedic Specialists.

Dr. Stephen Ritter specializes in the treatment of injuries and conditions of the spine, including the neck. Dr. Ritter is a native of Davenport, Iowa. His brother, Dr. Mark Ritter, is also a member of the Methodist Sports Center/The Orthopedic Specialists practice. Dr. Ritter attended Luther College where he received a BA in Biology and played on the varsity soccer team.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Iowa School of Medicine. Dr. Ritter served a general surgical internship and an orthopedic residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and has engaged in research concerning the biomechanical analysis of cervical disc replacement.

Dr. Ritter is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
