Methodist sports medicine / the orthopedic specialists continues leadership role through orthopedic fellowships
Methodist Sports Medicine / The Orthopedic Specialists is recognized as having one of the preeminent fellowship programs, offering orthopedic fellowships to highly qualified candidates each year. Press Release (.pdf)
If knowledge is power, Methodist Sports Medicine / The Orthopedic Specialists is committed to empowering future generations with the knowledge we have gained.
That’s precisely why we sponsor orthopedic and primary care fellowships for qualified applicants. Funded and supported by the Methodist Sports Medicine Research and Education Foundation, the fellowship program allows participants to share in the duties of patient care, surgery and clinical research.
Graduates of approved orthopedic residencies, who want to focus their practice on sports medicine, will learn first-hand at the side of our experienced physicians.
The goal is to train a physician who is knowledgeable in all aspects of sports medicine including the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries in the athlete. We stress hands-on and on-the-field education. Fellows will serve as team physicians at local high schools and at a Division III college. They will also assist in the care of Division I and professional athletes.
Clinical research is conducted through our research department, and Fellows complete two research projects during the year. Applicants must be a graduate of an LCME-accredited medical school, have completed an ACGME approved residency, be board-certified and be licensed in the state of Indiana.
This fellowship is ACGME accredited.
