At Methodist Sports Medicine, we provide the most innovative and up-to-date therapy options to ensure that our patients are moving comfortably, whether it be on the field or in their backyard.
Orthobiologic Therapy, sometimes referred to as “Regenerative Medicine” or “Stem Cell Therapy”, is a class of therapies that use the body’s products to help promote tissue healing, decrease inflammation, and improve pain and function of the body. The most common Orthobiologic therapies for musculoskeletal injuries include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), amniotic membrane injections, bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), and lipoaspirate.
These therapies have been used to treat several different musculoskeletal diagnoses including:
Osteoarthritis (knee, hip, shoulder, etc.)
Acute Muscle Injuries (i.e. hamstring)
Tendinopathies (Golfer’s elbow, Tennis elbow, Patellar Tendinopathy, Rotator Cuff, etc.)
Ulnar Collateral Ligament Injury
While there has been an increase in research and technology exploring the optimal ways in which Orthobiologic therapy can be used to benefit patients, most of these therapies are still considered experimental and are generally not covered by insurance. That being said, we strongly believe that our patients benefit from these therapies.
We offer Orthobiologic Therapy consultation via Telemedicine or in-person clinic visits with Dr. Matthew Negaard. During these consultations, Dr. Negaard will discuss all of your therapy options, backed by the most up-to-date medical research, and will lay out a personalized treatment plan, designed specifically for you.
