October 13, 2014 – Indianapolis – Methodist Sports Medicine Orthopedic Specialists Ryan Jaggers, M.D. and Thurman Alvey, D.O. are part of a line-up of expert speakers participating in an Orthopedic Boot Camp, an educational event designed for mid-level healthcare providers. The event scheduled for Saturday, November 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will take place at the Medical Academic Center located at 13225 N. Meridian Street in Carmel.
Dr. Jaggers, who joined Methodist Sports Medicine October 13, and specializes in sports medicine and disorders of the knee, is the events’ first first speaker and and will present “Weak at the Knees: Obstacles of the Knee – Evaluation and Management at 8:15 a.m. Following that presentation, Dr. Jaggers will return to present, “The Arduous Hip: Assessment and Management of Hip Pain,” at 9:05 a.m.
Dr. Alvey who specializes in sports medicine primary care, will conclude the morning session of the Orthopedic Boot Camp at 9:55 a.m. with “Gimme a Break: Sprains, Strains and ‘Automobiles’ ….Know the Difference.”
Orthopedic Boot Camp was designed for the mid-level healthcare provider who is interested in having a better understanding of: the anatomy of the knee, hip, hand, shoulder, spine and identify common orthopedic conditions involving those areas, utilizing appropriate imaging for fracture care, implementing initial treatment in a primary care setting and when to refer to an orthopedic specialists, distinguishing common rheumatologic disorders and when to refer to a rheumatologist and identifying the different types of musculoskeletal injections and what orthopedic conditions they are utilized for.
