Jonathan Smerek

“I feel my greatest joy in medicine, and the greatest assistance I can offer patients, derives from the knowledge that if I just ask the right questions and listen intently, the patient will tell me the diagnosis. This serves as the foundation as I and the Methodist Sports Medicine team start the patient on the road to recovery.”

Jonathan Smerek

Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Specialist

Dr. Jonathan Smerek was an engineering major who loved sports. He was captain of the track and field team at the University of Notre Dame while he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Then he powered on to earn a master’s in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Today, Dr. Smerek can still enjoy his dual interests, in a specialty that reinforces his passion for helping others remain active and pain-free.

A graduate of the medical school at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Smerek completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at The Ohio State University. He furthered his knowledge and skills during his foot and ankle fellowship with Dr. Mark Myerson and Dr. Cliff Jeng at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction in Baltimore.

Dr. Smerek is happily married and the father of two children.
