Sydney Harman

Sydney Harman

Board-Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine

Sydney Harman was born and raised in Iowa and is thankful to have grown up among the kind and hardworking people of the Midwest. She received her BA with highest distinction from the University of Iowa in 2010, then followed in her father’s footsteps by earning her MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.

After graduating medical school and winning scholarship awards from the Department of Anesthesia, Dr. Harman moved to Indianapolis to complete her residency in anesthesiology at Indiana University. During her residency, Dr. Harman had the privilege to spend time working with pain patients at the Indianapolis VA hospital; it was there she discovered a passion for working with patients to personalize their treatments for chronic pain.

After residency, Dr. Harman returned to Iowa City for a fellowship in Pain Medicine to gain additional expertise in understanding and treating complex chronic pain. During her fellowship, she had multiple abstracts accepted to national meetings of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Harman is now honored to return to Indy to join MSM.

Although she has a strong procedural background, Dr. Harman recognizes that chronic pain is isolating and treats each patient as an individual rather than a diagnosis. She collaborates with her patients to restore their ability to function and participate in cherished activities.

Dr. Harman is married to Thomas Krupski, who works at MSM as a Physician Assistant. In her spare time, she enjoys time with her bernedoodle, biking around the city, gardening, and supporting local sports teams.
