He has performed procedures in joint injection, tendon sheath injection, trigger point injection, SI joint injection, tarsal tunnel and carpal tunnel injection, exercise compartment testing, viscosupplementation (hyaluronic acid) injection, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection, amniotic membrane graft injection, prolotherapy, sports acupuncture, Tenex procedure, and other various injections to alleviate pain.
Dr. Alvey has specialized training in musculoskeletal ultrasound, injection treatments, and osteopathic manipulative medicine to assist in the non-operative care of his patients and allow him to offer a multi-faceted approach to address acute injuries and degenerative conditions.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Alvey continues to be active in medical education. He has been involved in authoring, co-authoring, and reviewing several articles in sports medicine. He has lectured regionally and nationally on concussion management and overuse injuries and taught workshops for MSK ultrasound and OMT. His research interests include injury prevention, sports nutrition, regenerative biomedicine, and concussion management.
A native of Franklin, Indiana, Dr. Alvey was a multi-sport athlete through high school and college. He is an avid supporter of scholastic wrestling, having coached at the developmental, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. When he is not in the office or on the sideline, he is typically spending time with his family. He and his wife, April, have four daughters: Lucy, Claire, Lydia, and Audrey.
